Adams Scores First Goal In 100+ Games

Craig Adams is the last person you would expect to score, let alone in a Sidney Crosby-esque fashion. The Pittsburgh Penguins were trailing the Ottawa Senators when Adams cut the lead down to one with a hard rush to the net and fired a beautiful back handed shot right over the left shoulder of Ottawa goaltender Brian Elliott. Adam’s first goal in 111 games.

Adams was drafted in 1996 and began his full time NHL career with the Carolina Hurricanes. Prior to the 2005-2006 season, Adams inked a deal with the Anaheim Ducks but was traded back to the Hurricanes before the season even began. He would go on to win a Stanley Cup with the Canes that year.

Fast forward to January 2008 when Adams was traded again, this time to the Chicago Blackhawks. He played 71 games between then and the following season when he was placed on waivers and picked up by the Pittsburgh Penguins where he played only 9 games on their first quest to the cup. This past season Adams was one of 2 players to play in all 82 games during the regular season, the other being forward Jordan Staal.

NOTE: Ottawa defeated the Penguins 5-4 in Game One of the Eastern Conference Quarter Finals. Despite the loss, Evgeni Malkin lead the day in points and goals, Crosby leads in assists. Game Two is Friday at 7pm on Versus.
