No Playoff Experience, No Problem

In Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarter Finals, goaltender Antti Niemi showed us that his lack of playoff experience is certainly a non issue. The Hawks defeated the Phoenix Coyotes 2-0, Niemi earning his first career playoff shutout and the first Hawks playoff shut out since Ed Belfour in 1996. He now leads the post season in save percentage (.957) and goals against average (1.01).

Niemi, who faced 23 shots on goal was not the only one on his game in last nights match up. Nashville net minder Pekka Rinne was also spectacular, despite the loss, robbing power forwards like Marian Hossa on more than one occasion and had some highlight reel saves of his own. Rinne faced just 10 more shots than Niemi.

With such great goaltending on both ends, there is a chance that this series like so many others we have seen so far this post season could go seven games. Almost a game behind everyone else, the Hawks look to increase their series lead in Game 3 on Tuesday at 8pm ET on CSN (Comcast Sports Net)

Honorable Mention: Patrick Kane had a goal and an assist. He leads the team in goals and points so far in the post season.
