No Home Ice Advantage Here

The LA Kings are the most recent team to reach their season’s end after their tough battle with the Vancouver Canucks last night. The Canucks came from behind and rallied to beat the Kings 4-2 and end the series. What is interesting, is that it happened in LA. Why? Because out of the four teams that have advanced so far this post season, each and every one of them have done it on the opposing team’s ice.

The Philadelphia Flyers took out the high seeded Devils in five games in Jersey. The Ottawa Senators forced a game six and headed home to Scotiabank Place, only to be shutdown by the Pittsubrgh Penguins in overtime. The San Jose Sharks gave critics something to “choke” on as they did not choke in the first round this year and instead won a hard fought series against the Colorado Avalanche in six games in Denver.

Two more games take place tonight in a situation where it is do or die for the home team. Will we see another pattern or with the Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators live to see another game as opposed to the golf course. Both the Washington Capitals and the Chicago Blackhawks lead their series 3-2 against both teams, respectively. Both are also favored to go head to head in this year’s Stanley Cup Final.

Also on the schedule this evening, the Buffalo Sabres look to stay alive as the Boston Bruins lead their series 3-2. Unlike the other two games in tonight’s lineup, this one is not a chance for the series leader to close out on the road.
