Pens Take Series Lead With A Fleury Shutout

Marc-Andre Fleury bagged his fourth career playoff shutout last night in front of friends and family in his home province of Quebec as the Pittsburgh Penguins took the series lead against the Montreal Canadiens with a 2-0 victory. In a more defensively dominant game, Fleury only faced 18 shots on goal, every single one more important than the last in a game held scoreless up until the third period.

Stepping up for the Pens was forward Evgeni Malkin who put the Pens up 1-0 with a one timer near the point in a carry over power play early in the third period. Captain Sidney Crosby took his usual place in front of the net impairing the view of Hab’s net minder Jaroslav Halak just enough for the puck to make it into the back of the net. Halak would later retire to the bench in favor of an extra attacker, but Pascal Dupuis put it away for the Pens with 15 seconds remaining in regulation.

Game Four of the series is Thursday at 7p.m EST on Versus. Fans in the Pittsburgh area can also view the game on the Outdoor Screen just outside Mellon Arena.
