Danny Briere in Car Accident

Early Thursday morning, Flyers center, Danny Briere, was involved in a car accident just north of the Pennsylvania border near Binghamton, N.Y.

Briere and his 9-year-old son Cameron were driving north on I-81 at about 12:30 a.m. when his SUV collided with a tractor-trailer.

According to New York State Police, Briere was passing the tractor-trailer when he became drowsy and drifted into the right-hand lane.  He swiped the tractor-trailer and crashed into the guardrail.

The tractor-trailer swerved and jackknifed, causing the rig to tip over, blocking all northbound lanes for several hours.

Briere and his son suffered only minor injuries.  They were treated at a nearby hospital and released.  Briere was treated for an unspecified arm injury and Cameron Briere complained of neck pain.

The truck driver was not injured.
