Morris Extends Stay in Desert

Derek Morris signed a four year $11 million dollar extension today with the Coyotes, or $2.75 million per year deal. Morris, a 31 year old defenseman, doesn’t light the lamp up too often anymore but he plays a substantial amount of minutes for the Coyotes. Morris has been with the team since 2003 when he left Colorado except for a brief stint in New York with the Rangers and Boston with the Bruins. During his 2002-2004 seasons with the Avalanche he put up respectable points and showed that he can be an offensive defenseman if used properly.
