Rangers Sign Enforcer Boogaard to Four Year Contract

The New York Rangers have taken a chance and signed 28-year old enforcer Derek Boogaard of the Minnesota Wild to a four year contract worth around 1.68MM annually.

The Saskatchewan native is known more for his beastly size then actual skill on the ice and has not scored a single goal since his rookie season back in 2005-2006. At 222 games, it is the longest active streak in the NHL. He has managed two goals and 14 points in his five year career.

In his last year with the Wild, Boogaard missed 18 games due to various injuries and another two due to a suspension handed out for a knee-on-knee hit to Ryan Jones of the Edmonton Oilers.
