Koivu still a Duck, signs two-year contract

Anaheim Ducks center Saku Koivu will remain where he is after agreeing to a new two-year contract. The 35-year-old veteran posted 19 goals and 52 points along with a career-high plus-14 rating in 71 games last season, which was his first with Anaheim after spending 13 seasons with the Montreal Canadiens. It was the seventh consecutive season Koivu has surpassed the 50-point mark.

Koivu has played 863 NHL games, in which he has posted totals of 201 goals and 693 points. He served as the Canadiens’ team captain for 10 years (1999-2009), tying with Jean Beliveau for the longest stint in Montreal’s 100-year history.
